Winter Jobs 2010/2011

Imagine working in an environment where your workplace is at one of North America’s ski resorts. This doesn’t have to be just a dream - you can make it a reality! Gain experience in Canada’s world class resort communities and learn, laugh and grow as part of your job description. Start dates may vary as they are dependant on snow, however in the past they have commenced in late November to early December and have finished in mid April. Here are the job opportunities available for the 2010/2011 winter season:

WHISTLER, BRITISH COLUMBIA

 Ski Instructors (Se mere sidst på denne side)

  • Certified Level 1 and Level 2
  • Advanced English
  • Previous experience required

Cleaning Positions

  • Must be 22 years of age or older
  • Advanced English
  • Two years of relevant experience
  • Must arrive two weeks prior to start date to find own accommodation

Bistro Worker

  • Must have fluent English
  • Two years customer service experience
  • Cash-handling experience required
  • Must complete Serving it Right and Food Safe 1 courses upon arrival

Housekeeping Positions

  • Graduated in Hospitality
  • Three years experience in housekeeping
  • One year of experience in customer service
  • Must have fluent English
  • Must arrive two weeks prior to start date to find own accommodation

Breakfast Room Coordinator

  • Advanced English
  • One year dishwashing and serving experience

  • Must be able to stay one year

Front Desk Agents

  • Hospitality or hotel management degree
  • Two years experience in front desk
  • Minimum commitment of one year
  • Drivers license required
  • Must have fluent English and great customerservice skills

Position Status

  1. Full Time => 4-5 days/week (~20-40 hours), plus extra during peak times
  2. Part Time Regular => 1-2 days/week (~7-14 hours), plus extra days during peak times

All positions are considered seasonal and payed hourly. Seasonal positions can be differentiated from year round jobs as the have predefined start and end dates. These dates may vary due to seasonal business fluctuations. Due to the nature of our business hours are not a guarantee.

Job Summary

You will be responsible for providing a fun and memorable learning experience for children aged 3 -17 years old.

What you’ll be doing

  • To continually strive to exceed our Guest’s expectations and to create memories for guests and staff as the best mountain experience again and again.
  • To supervise a group of children for the day on Whistler or Blackcomb Mountain in a variety of activities including instruction, safety, lunch and special events.
  • To perform morning registration and afternoon clean up duties as assigned.
  • To be familiar with all Ski and Snowboard School programs, prices and lesson times, in order to be a source of informationto our guests.
  • To provide written and verbal communication on each child's day to their parents at the completion of each lesson.
  • To follow the guidelines and safety rules as outlined in the Safety Manual
  • To be responsible for the physical, mental and emotional needs of all children in your care
  • To act as a prudent parent in the absence of the child's parent.
  • To attend all mandatory training sessions.

Qualifications

  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada – Canadian citizen/resident or holder of an open work permit. Unfortunately we
  • cannot provide sponsorships.
  • Minimum Level I CSIA or foreign equivalent (uncertified instructors who have professional experience working with children
  • may be considered for our Minis Program, working with children aged 3-4 years)
  • Minimum 18 years of age
  • Previous experience working with children
  • Ability to work independently
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Good organizational skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Ability to have a whole lot of fun!!!

  • Be punctual and enthusiastic for all lessons.
  • Attend all mandatory training sessions.
  • Support all areas and programs in Ski School as business levels dictate
  • Ready to teach all levels of students – may include crossing over to other programs including childrens' programs.

Qualifications

  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada – Canadian resident/citizen or holder of an open work permit (working holiday visa). Unfortunately we cannot provide sponsorships.

  • Minimum level 2 CSIA (or foreign equivalent) preferred, will take level 1 CSIA with minimum 2 years teaching experience.

  • Foreign language is a definite asset.
  • Fluent English skills.
